THE CITY OF AMMAN:
| Amman the capital of Jordan with a long & fascinating history dating back over 3000 years, this city was settled by a restless cast of characters. Ammonites , Assyrians , Babylonians , Persians , Greeks , Romans , Byzantines , Umayyads & Crusaders are among the more familiar. Fare traces remain of that periods but the most fascinating one is the Roman Amphitheater with its seats deposited along the mountain side with a capacity of 6000 spectators, other features are the citadel which includes a Roman temple of Hercules built by Herdo the grate & the Arabic fortress from the 7th century. | |
JERASH:
The Corinthian capitals is now set in a green fertile valley along here were shops for goods brought by camel caravans coming from the Orient. This site is considered as one of the most beautifully preserved & restored Roman provincial city in the world dating back to the 1st & 2nd centuries. Some of the fine features to be seen there are the large elliptical colonnaded forum. Two theaters, the Triumph Arch of Emperor Hadrian, The Street of Columns whose paving stones still show the chariot wheel-marks & the impressive temple of Artemis.
MADABA:
| This city of mosaics has a long history dating back farther than 1300 B.C when it was mentioned in the bible . it was occupied by the Amorites, the Moabites , the Ammonites & the Nabataeans. It reached it’s importance during the period of Romans & Byzantines. |  |
MOUNT NEBO:
Mount Nebo the Highest point in the Moabite range has been a center for pilgrimages since earliest Christians times. A small church stood on this spot in the 4th century, it became a large basilica in the 6th century. It was partly rebuilt & the elegant mosaic was restored by the Franciscan.
KERAK:
Kerak is distinguished for it’s for it’s Crusader castle built in the 12th century lays on an older one dates back to the Nabataean’s times, it houses now an interesting museum.
PETRA:
| The 2000 years old unique rock craved city, the pink & salmon colored capital of the Nabataean Arabs. This unforgettable site flourished for over 400 years around the time of Rome & Christ, till it was occupied by Romans in 106 AD. The entrance to Petra is most unusual & Dramatic as you pass through a deep & narrow passage leads to a huge temple. AQABA:
| Qaqba is Jordan’s only seaport. This strategic location at the junction of two continents & several ancient trade routs with it’s year-round sun & idyllic weather has a popular water sports vacation center that attracts vacationers even in winter. |  |
DESERT CATLES:
Those are four surprising examples of Islamic art & architecture as they embody the luxury arranged for the Damascene Caliphs twelve hundred years ago in what seems today the most unlucky circumstances. Those pleasure palaces were built in the middle of the desert as a hunting lodges.
